Challenge 3: multi path technology selection
For a long time, there are different technical path choices between NSA (non stand alone) and SA (stand alone) for 5g network construction. NSA is to add 5g base station based on 4G core network, and users can enjoy 5g broadband service with 5g terminal.
With NSA, it has the advantages of simple deployment, fast start and less investment, and the terminal only needs to support broadband services, which is relatively easier to produce and manufacture. But NSA can't support 5g wide connection and high reliability and low delay because it doesn't change the core network. SA, with the real 5g core network, base station and backhaul link, can really meet a large number of related demands of industry customers.
In general, at present, operators have different NSA and SA speech route planning. It is determined that NSA network and SA network will coexist for a long time in the future, and operators are facing the challenge of multi frequency and multi system coexisting complex network.
Challenge 4: global dependence of supply chain
5g supply chain has a clear trend of globalization, mainly involving chip supply chain, smartphone supply chain and base station supply chain.The chip supply chain mainly involves such links as "Fables - Equipment - materials - Manufacturing (Foundry) - seal test (OSAT)". Chinese enterprises mainly focus on two aspects: design and sealing test.
Some special chips in China are catching up with each other and are moving towards the first camp in the world. These include cost driven consumer electronics, such as set-top box chips, monitor chips, and communication device chips, such as core router independent chips. But in the market of high-end smart phones, automobiles, industries and other embedded chips, there is still a big gap in China. The gap between high-end general-purpose chips and foreign advanced level is even greater, including processor and memory.
In terms of smart phone supply chain, the industry's commanding heights such as chip, memory, operating system, RF front-end, filter, etc. still cannot get rid of the dependence on European, American, Japanese and Korean manufacturers.
In terms of the supply chain of base stations, there are many devices involved, which are highly dependent on imported devices, especially FPGA, ADC & DAC, etc., which are difficult to find a better alternative.
